NSW coach Laurie Daley has admitted he left his coach box before MIchael Jennings scored the winning try in Origin III. He also said a jaw injury to centre Josh Dugan "could be serious"
"I left the coach's box and I was walking down, and I thought I'd drop the pad into the booth, and then I heard this roar," Daley said after the 18-14 win.
"I thought 'that's good, I don't know what it is" "Then it was more than a roar, it was a try. I saw it on the big screen just as Jenko put it down"'
Departing captain Paul Gallen revealed he stepped back from elements of the captaincy in the first two games of this year's series.
"That didn't work, obviously," he said. "This camp, it was all or nothing."
Daley also said he was not concerned about losing his job in the event of a defeat because he had "received phone calls" from un-named officials assuring him he was safe.
"I'm just happy that the guys played for 80, as we've been talking about, and I'm so happy for Gal to leave this arena a winner," said coach Laurie Daley.
