A man has been arrested after he allegedly stole a car and took police on a high-speed chase through Perth before abandoning the vehicle.
WA Police said the 31-year-old allegedly stole a Toyota Landcruiser from a home in Perth’s northern suburbs on December 23, which police saw in Karrinyup just before 4pm on Christmas Day.
Officers allege the driver failed to stop as they pursued the car through Doubleview, Osborne Park, Mount Hawthorn and Glendalough at speed, eventually stopping over concerns further pursuit would endanger the public.
A short time later the vehicle was abandoned on Smith Street in Morley.
On Boxing Day police searched a Lockridge home where they allege the man fled on foot, then catching up with him on the roof of a neighbouring property.
They arrested and charged him with 15 offences, including the theft of a motorbike from East Perth on November 30.
A 33-year-old Madeley woman was also arrested at the address and charged with one count of stealing a motor vehicle. She is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on January 14.
The man is due before Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
