It's been well and truly overshadowed by Kanye West's presidential announcement, but there was a definite frisson at the VMAs when Nicki Minaj accepted her award for best hip-hop video for Anaconda.
At the end of her speech Minaj said, "And now, back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press, Miley, what's good," throwing to VMA host Miley Cyrus.
In an interview with the New York Times earlier this week, Cyrus had commented on a controversy that involved Minaj and her criticism of criteria for VMA nominations.
Cyrys was responding to Minaj's tweets about her omission from the Video Of The Year category.
Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj had a heated exchange at the VMAs.
Minaj tweeted at the time: "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."
Cyrus told the New York Times, "What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj, is not too kind. It's not very polite. I think there's a way you speak to people with openness and love."
After Minaj's sally, Cyrus responded, "We're all in this industry, wel all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate shit. Nicki, congratu-f------lations."
