BRAZEN youths waved at onlookers as they sped off in a stolen car while being chased by five cop cars during a high-speed pursuit in Palmerston
A group of six youths, aged between 14 and 16, allegedly stole a white Ford Ranger from a property in The Gardens at around 9.30pm on Friday.
NT Police Sergeant Darren Robson said police spotted the car at 10.30pm on the Stuart Highway near Knuckey Lagoon and began following at a distance.
“Police engaged in a short pursuit after the vehicle increased in speed, with tyre deflation devices successfully deployed to apprehend the vehicle in Palmerston,” he said.
Video footage captured of the chase shows a youth waving at onlookers from the back seat of the stolen vehicle while five cops cars follow them with sirens on.

NT Police said all six youths in the vehicle were arrested at the scene.
Four youths were conveyed home to responsible adults to be considered for youth diversion.
Two youths were in breach of their current bail conditions.
They were conveyed to the Palmerston watch house and charged with aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle.
The owner recovered his vehicle after police assisted to replace the front tyre.
