Repeat offenders among seven people fined for flouting quarantine over the weekend

NT POLICE have issued seven more people with infringement notices for breaching quarantine over the weekend - including two men who have been caught in breach before.

NT POLICE have issued seven more people with infringement notices for breaching quarantine over the weekend - including two men who have been caught in breach before.

A 29-year-old man from Howard Springs, who was previously issued with an infringement on June 20, was again fined after police couldn’t find him at his home during a compliance check at the weekend.

A 25-year-old Driver resident was also absent from his home during a compliance check, and police made multiple attempts to locate and contact him.

Police found he had been purposely avoiding them and issued him with his second infringement notice.

Two people aged 46 and 50, who were meant to be quarantining at a Humpty Doo residence, were located in Katherine and each issued with a fine.

Two people aged 26 and 40, quarantining in a hotel room in Darwin, were also fined after telling police investigating reports of them frequently leaving the premises that they had left to get food.

A 54-year-old woman has been also issued with an infringement for going on a boat cruise in Kakadu when she was supposed to be in quarantine last month.

The 47-year-old man who accompanied her on the cruise, in breach of his own quarantine requirements, has already been fined.

The penalty for breaching NT coronavirus quarantine requirements is a $1106 fine for individuals and $5530 fine for businesses.

So far 22,843 compliance checks have been completed and 117 fines issued.
