COPS have seized another vehicle in relation to a hooning incident on Groote Eylandt.
Cops were conducting traffic duties and attempted to stop a white Toyota LandCruiser for a roadside breath test.
The driver, a 23-year-old man, allegedly sped off, lost traction and damaged the road.
Cops later found the car abandoned and seized it for 48 hours under anti-hooning legislation.
Cops investigated further and identified the driver.
He was slapped with an infringement for failing to obey the direction of a police officer, drive an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, drive an unsafe motor vehicle, drive a vehicle to cause loss of traction, drive a vehicle and damage the road surface and drive at a dangerous speed.

Senior Sergeant Tanya Woodcock said the behaviour would not be tolerated.
“This is the fifth vehicle seized for hooning in Groote Eylandt this week. We expect to seize two more as investigations continue into hooning incidents on New Year’s Day, in which one person subsequently died,” she said.
