Police raid at Tennant Creek home results in seizure of 564g of cannabis worth $28,200

A police raid has resulted in the seizure of more than half a kilo of cannabis, with a massive street value

More than half a kilo of cannabis, with a street value of $28,200 has been seized by cops after a raid at a Tennant Creek home.

As a result of last night’s raid a 28-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were charged with drug related offences.

Police allege the 564g of cannabis was destined to be sold to remote communities across the Barkly region.

Sergeant Marek Hutchinson-Goncz said the seizure would significantly dent the supply of dangerous drugs in Tennant Creek.

“This is a great result in reducing drug related harm to people living in remote communities in the Northern Territory, and we will continue to focus on holding these offenders responsible.” Sgt Hutchinson-Goncz said.

The woman was charged with one count of, possess scheduled 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity.

The 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with one count each of supply schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity, possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity and dealing money/property proceeds of crime.

A 20-year-old man who was at the property and found in possession of cannabis was issued a Drug Infringement Notice for Possess Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug.
