POLICE are investigating the alleged assault of an Aboriginal man after a video surfaced of an individual urinating beside the victim as he slept.

The video, which the NT News received this week, shows the man filming approaching the victim sleeping near Uncle Sam’s Take Away Food on Smith St, Darwin City.

The person filming then urinates beside the victim’s head on items he is sleeping on.

A person who viewed and reposted the video added captions reading: “So apparently I’m ‘I’m having a sook’ because I told (name) that this was wrong on so many levels … am I the only one who thinks this is wrong orrrrr??”

“Let me just add in there that his excuse for doing it is that ‘he was harassing me for money’ HOWWWW THE POOR BLOKE IS SLEEPING”.

NT Police Commander Matt Hollamby said an investigation was underway.

“This type of behaviour displayed is appalling and constitutes a crime,” he said.

“NT Police urge anyone who witnessed or has information about this assault to report it to the police.”
