TWO people have been arrested in Jabiru after almost 700g of cannabis was found in their car.
According to NT Police, officers saw the vehicle in the declared drug area of Oenpelli Road, Jabiru around 2.40am yesterday.
Officers conduced a roadside saliva test on the 27-year-old male driver, which came back positive. He was then arrested for a drug analysis which returned a positive reading for amphetamine.
Police then searched the vehicle using a drug detector dog who found seven taped packages of cannabis to the rear driver’s side cargo door.
Another package of cannabis was found in a 34-year-old female passenger’s handbag. In total the cannabis seized weighed 672g.
The 27-year-old man was charged with possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis as well as traffic offences including driving with an unrestrained child and drug driving. He will appear before the Darwin Local Court today.

The 34-year-old woman was also charged with possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis and failing to wear a seatbelt.
She will appear in the Maningrida Local Court on September 1.
