A MAN has been arrested for drink driving after crashing his car while trying to avoid police who were at the scene of another crash.

Police were called to the scene at the intersection of Matthews Road and McMillans Road in Marrara at around 10.30pm after a grey Nissan Tida sedan had collided with a taxi.

The occupants of the Nissan fled the scene prior to the arrival of police and the taxi driver suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with information relating to this incident are urged to contact police.

While police were at the scene, a man tried to avoid them by turning into Links Road, colliding with an unknown object, causing a tyre blowout which then resulted in the vehicle coming to a stop nearby.

The 32-year-old was breath tested, providing a positive result, and arrested for a breath analysis.
