Two offenders remain on the run after they attempted to burgle a suburban supermarket in Palmerston overnight and threw rocks at customers and attendants, before a third offender they were with was arrested.
NT Police Northern Watch Commander Bruce Payne said police responded to after three men entered a suburban supermarket in Palmerston armed with rocks and sticks and have immediately started throwing rocks at staff at 8.18pm on Tuesday.
“Staff have defended themselves while one of the offenders has made his way towards the liquor cabinet behind the counter,” he said.
Mr Payne said staff members had to act quickly to ensure they protected their wares and didn’t suffer financial loss through stolen products.
“A staff member has pulled down the security shutter to the cabinet and the male has unsuccessfully attempted to force open the cabinet,” he said.
“The offenders have then left the story empty-handed.”
