POLICE are investigating an incident in which a car carrying a family of tourists was shot at with a crossbow as they drove through the Darwin rural area.
NT Police report that about 2pm on Monday, a family of four from interstate was travelling on the Berry Springs Reserve Rd, towards Cox Peninsula Rd, when the driver heard the sound of something hitting the undercarriage of their Toyota Prado.
He thought the sound had been caused by a rock hitting the car and continued driving.

However, when the family returned to the caravan park they were staying at, the driver discovered the car had been hit by a crossbow bolt that was now embedded in the side of the car.
NT Police First Class Constable Andrew Bannan said police were seeking public information about the incident to assist their investigation.
“Police conducted a limited doorknock in the area and would like to hear from anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to contact 131 444,” he said.
He asked anyone who called to quote reference number 9741507.
