The man was driving down the Rowell Hwy on Groote Eylandt on Tuesday, which has a speed limit of 90km/h.
Senior Sergeant Tanya Woodcock said the driver’s actions were unwarranted.
“High range speeding like this is incredibly dangerous and there is no excuse for it, drivers should be aware that police can record vehicle speeds from both stationary and mobile units. It’s not worth the risk, this could have very easily ended in tragedy,” she said.
