THE Stuart Highway was blocked for more than three hours this morning after a truck carrying produce supplies to a remote community crashed.

As a result Tennant Creek will not receive their bread delivery today.

At 1.24am on Wednesday, approximately 15km out of Mataranka a prime mover with three trailers, travelling south along the Stuart Highway momentarily lost control causing the two rear trailers to sway and roll over.

One of the trailers blocked the Stuart Highway for approximately 3.5 hours.

“Another truck at the site was able to assist with clearing the road of the bread it was carrying,” Southern watch commander Sonia Kennon said.

“Unfortunately for Tennant Creek a bread delivery will not reach them today.”
