A DRINK driver has been stopped by police after CCTV caught him allegedly trying to leave Darwin’s main night-life strip while under the influence of alcohol.
NT Police Watch Commander Greg Pusterla said the man was pulled over in the same street where his car had been parked.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested about 3.15 Monday morning after allegedly driving on Shadforth Lane on a high range of alcohol content ,with 0.169 per cent,” he said.
“CCTV operators sighted the man appearing intoxicated, walking to his car, prior to being pulled over by police.”
Snr Sgt Pusterla said it was the second recent incident where CCTV had prevented a possibly dangerous driver from getting on the road.

“There was another (similar incident) a few weeks ago I reported on,” he said.
“(The CCTV) is certainly a great asset.”
