A POLITICAL candidate out campaigning has recounted how two men helped chase down “brazen” youths who snatched her purse from her van in broad daylight.

CLP candidate for Fong Lim Kylie Bonanni said the incident at Dinah Beach Oval just before 6pm on Monday was “frightening” and would have turned out quite differently if not for two good Samaritans who stepped in to help.

Ms Bonanni had set up a stall at Dinah Beach Oval, as she does often to speak to punters, just after 4.30pm on Monday.

Just before 6pm, shortly before she was going to pack up, six youths approached her and “came straight over” to her campaign van.

“One came straight to the back of my van and took out a chair and the plan was obviously to distract,” Ms Bonanni said.
