The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

THE FAMILY of Jack Allan Taylor, who died in a car crash last weekend, have released a heartbreaking statement about their larrikin of a son and a “Jack of all trades”.

The 24-year-old man tragically passed away after a Toyota HiLux rolled on Lowther Rd after midnight on Saturday.

Two other occupants of the vehicle were admitted to Royal Darwin Hospital after suffering serious injuries.

A 21-year-old woman has since been discharged from hospital and a 25-year-old man remains in a stable condition.

The Taylor family wrote in a statement that the young man was “taken too soon”.

“Our hearts are broken,” they wrote.

“Mum is going to miss her comedian of a son, always putting a smile on her face and Dad is devastated at the lost his boy, as hard as they both tried they were exactly the same.

“Jack’s sister and brothers are shattered, they’ve lost a brother and a friend.”

The family described Mr Taylor as a “Jack of all trades” after he had worked in electrical and solar for about five years and was a concrete labourer and chippy.

“It’s so hard to comprehend that he’s not coming home from work,” they wrote.

“(He was) welding stock crates in Victoria, which just last week he was saying that he missed ‘but it’s too bloody hot up here to do’.”

The family said Mr Taylor’s life was short but full of adventures as he travelled around Australia twice and went on overseas trips.

“Jack loved fishing and camping and would go off grid to get away from it all and chill,” the family wrote.

“He enjoyed riding motor bikes, 4x4 driving and tinkering with his cars.

“He loved his beloved dog Kippa.”

Mr Taylor lived a quieter life in recent years and loved having a beer in front of a fire.

“But he still like a schooner at the pub and a slap on the pokies,” the family wrote.

“Jack was a smart young man, who could do anything he put his mind too.

“He didn’t mind some hard work and sweat to accomplish his many building ideas.

“As long as he had some music going and plenty of beers in the Esky.”

Mr Taylor’s family and friends are still in shock and disbelief about his sudden death.

“He will be dearly missed,” the family wrote.

“Knowing he lived his life to the fullest, that he was wild and happy has made accepting this horrible news that little bit easier.

“Rest in peace Jack. We love you.”
