The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

THE victim of a tragic fatal crash in Bees Creek over the weekend has been revealed as 24-year-old Jack Allan Taylor.

The man died after a Toyota HiLux rolled on Lowther Rd in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Two other occupants of the vehicle, a 21-year-old woman and 25-year-old man, remain in Royal Darwin Hospital in stable conditions.

The 24-year-old man was admitted to hospital but later died from his injuries.

St John NT operations manager Craig Garraway said: “One was trapped in that vehicle, another one had been ejected from that vehicle and reports of one had been impaled on a star picket.”

Tributes for Mr Taylor, a keen fisho, have been circulating on social media.

Family and friends wrote of how much they missed the 24-year-old man and that their hearts are breaking.

“I miss you so much, just want to shake you and say wake up. But you are forever asleep. Rest easy my love, my heart is broken,” Elizabeth Taylor wrote.

“RIP mate, this world is too cruel sometimes, glad I got the chance to know you for a while,” Jess Paddick wrote.

“I still can’t come to terms with what has happened,” Jayde Ravi said.

“You always made me laugh and we certainly had some good memories and lots of laughs, you’ve taken a massive chunk of my heart with you.”

“Hope you’re chilling in the shade under palm trees right now you legend … (hearing the news) made me upset today but hope you know I love you,” William Burrows wrote.

Mr Burrows later posted a photo of a bonfire he was burning in honour of Mr Taylor and wrote “burning … just as you would’ve liked it, miss you that much already”.

Others have thanked the 24-year-old for the time they shared.

“I know you’ll be running a muck up there. Thank you for the memories we shared over the years. Until we meet again,” Korey-anne Ainslie said.

Mr Taylor’s family are holding a farewell service to celebrate his life next week.

Major Crash is still investigating the crash and could not provide details on the circumstances of the crash.

Skid marks scuffed the bitumen and debris from the vehicle still layed on the grass alongside the road on Monday after the accident.

“Condolences to the family on the loss of their young son … I think there should be an inquest of some sort into the rural roads … too many lives being taken,” Steven Torres-Carne wrote.

“Condolences to the families, so sad,” Christine West said

“Love and thoughts with family and friends,” Yolande Yo Rids Morris wrote.

“Condolences to the family and many friends,” Leanne Betts said.

A total of 35 road deaths occurred on NT roads in 2021.
