Two men who allegedly beat a 39-year-old into unconsciousness and left his bloodied body in a Darwin carpark have faced court for the first time.
Joseph Wunungmurra, 37, and Brendan Marrtjiku, 33, appeared in Darwin Local Court on Monday charged over the alleged fatal brawl outside the Rapid Creek Business Village.
The body of a 39-year-old man was found in the suburban parking lot after 8.30pm, Tuesday.
It will be alleged Wunungmurra, Marrtjiku, and 18-year-old Jerad Gurruwiwi were part of a violent fatal assault, while up to 20 people witnessed the attack.
Gurruwiwi was arrested on Wednesday, within hours of the alleged assault, while his co-accused were arrested on Friday.
Police said Wunungmurra was arrested in The Narrows on Friday, while dog squads tracked down Marrtjiku in Coconut Grove.
All three men were charged with recklessly endangering serious harm, unlawfully causing serious harm and aggravated assault.
Wunungmurra faces an additional, unrelated charge of aggravated assault.
It is understood the investigation into the alleged fatal brawl is ongoing.
On Monday, Wunungmurra, Marrtjiku’s lawyer Megan Donahoe, told Judge Ben O’Loughlin that neither men would be making an application for bail.
Their case was adjourned to April 12 for a preliminary examination mention.
