A WALLET, three bank cards and 15 sets undies were stolen from an Alice Springs home on Wednesday night.

Southern Watch Commander Allan Milner said the thief was able to remove a “couple” of glass panes from the Eastside house to access inside and take the valuables … including the jocks.

“We were hoping that they were actually new ones and not used,” Cmdr Milner said.

The incident is still under investigation.

Another home in Braitling was broken into on Wednesday night, with a black Subaru 2016 station wagon being stolen.

“It’s unknown how they got in but it was reported as an intruder on premises, which means they actually saw two unknown offenders inside that decamped with the stolen motor vehicle,” Cmdr Milner said.

“That vehicle was actually later involved in a short pursuit before being abandoned on Dalby Ct, Eastside, an hour later.”

The vehicle has been seized for forensics.

Cops call for witnesses after carjacking

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was allegedly carjacked by an armed assailant in Darwin’s north on Saturday night.

Sergeant Kaye Pemberton said police received a report that a 26-year-old man had been threatened with an “edged weapon” and his vehicle stolen on Gardenia St in Nightcliff at about 10.45pm.

“We have received reports that just prior to this incident the offender attempted to stop two other vehicles along Gardenia St, a white hatchback and a blue sedan,” she said.

“Police would like to speak with the owners of these vehicles.”

‘Reckless and dangerous’ police pursuit in Katherine ‘not just a bit of tomfoolery’, cops warn

THE actions of a driver who led police on a “reckless and dangerous” pursuit while doing burnouts overnight have been slammed as far more serious than “a bit of tomfoolery”.

Watch Commander Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Overall said officers attempted to pull the silver Nissan ute over in Katherine before 11pm on Saturday when the driver failed to stop.

Sgt Overall said police began pursuing the vehicle which led them on a chase through the suburbs of Katherine and into a community outside town.

“Throughout the incident, the driver drove in a reckless and dangerous manner including several burnouts and driving on the opposite side of the road,” he said.

“Police successfully deployed tyre spikes as the vehicle attempted to re-enter town and the 20-year-old male driver and sole occupant was subsequently arrested.

“While the driver may have believed he was engaging in a bit of tomfoolery, his reckless behaviour posed a very real danger to other road users and pedestrians.”

The man remained in custody on Sunday morning with police expecting to lay charges for alleged traffic and domestic violence related offences.
