Police have arrested a 32-year-old man who allegedly brutally assaulted an elderly minibus driver in Palmerston on Thursday, leaving him with a broken leg and multiple broken teeth.
An NT Police spokesman said two people flagged the driver down for a ride at about 3.50pm before “an altercation occurred”.
“One of the passengers allegedly assault(ed) the driver, causing him to fall to the ground,” he said.
“The driver was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital after suffering a broken leg and multiple broken teeth during the incident.
“A 32-year-old man was arrested a short time later and remains in police custody, expected to be charged (Friday).”

An RDH spokeswoman said the 76-year-old was in a stable condition on Friday.
