NT Police charge 20-year-old Tennant Creek man with child sex offences

A 20 year-old-man has been charged with a raft of offences after an investigation revealed he was stalking women and in a relationship with a child.

A Tennant Creek man has been charged with a raft of sexual offences after investigations revealed he had been allegedly stalking several women in town.

The 20-year-old man was also revealed to have been in a relationship with a child under the age of 16.

As a result he was charged with two counts of unlawful stalking, six counts of indecent dealing with a child under 16 and one count of a sexual relationship with a child under 16.

He was also charged with separate counts of using a carriage service to menace and harass, procure a child and for sexual activity with a person under 16.

Among the sexual offence charges was also a charge of possessing a prohibited firearm.

NT Police are continuing to investigate and prosecute people caught doing similar crimes.

“Child sex offences are some of the most despicable offences in our society,” Detective Sergeant Hayley Duncan said.

“If you or anyone you know is aware of offences against children please report it to Police on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000.”

The man will be remanded to appear in Tennant Creek Local Court on August 29.
