A man has been charged with driving recklessly causing death for a collision which occurred in July

A 22-year-old man has been charged in relation to a head-on collision that killed a baby and a 25-year-old woman on a major NT highway.

A young man has been charged in relation to a head-on collision that killed a baby and a 25-year-old woman last month.

The fatal head-on collision between a sedan and truck happened on the Roper Highway on Friday, July 15.

A member of the public discovered the horrific scenes and called emergency services just before 5pm.

Police, firefighters and St John NT responded, but were unable to save the woman and the baby, who were both passengers of the sedan.

Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit have since issued the 22-year-old with a notice to appear and charged him with two counts of dangerous driving causing death.

The man is set to appear in Darwin Local Court on September 29.
