Police allege a 54-year-old man sexually assaulted a sleeping woman in a Darwin car park before attempting to flee the area.

December 14, 2.40pm: A 54 year-old man has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Leanyer.
Police say the sleeping woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by the man about 1.40am on Saturday in the carpark of a shopping complex on Leanyer Drive.
Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre CCTV operations saw the alleged offence and alerted authorities.
As the man tried to leave the area, police arrived and arrested him.
Police say he is not believed to be known to the victim.
The alleged offender remains in custody and is expected to be charged later on Saturday.
The woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for medical treatment.

Woman arrested after alleged Darwin stabbing
December 14, 2pm: A man has been taken to hospital after he was allegedly stabbed multiple times outside a Stuart Park takeaway store.
About 6.45pm on Friday, authorities received a report that a man had been attacked with an edged weapon near a fast-food restaurant along the Stuart Highway.
Police and St John’s Ambulance attended the scene where they located a 47-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his chest, thigh and arm.
With the man was a 43-year-old woman known to him.
As paramedics loaded the victim into the ambulance, the man identified the woman in his company as his alleged attacker.
The woman was arrested and remains in police custody.
The man was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Young boy allegedly approached by man in Darwin
December 14, 12.30pm: Northern Territory Police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly approached a young boy and tried to entice him into his vehicle in Malak.
The young boy was allegedly approached by the man, who was unknown to him, near a park in Holzerland St in Malak about 2.45pm on December 11.
The man was driving a white four wheel drive station wagon, which he allegedly attempted to entice the boy into.
However, the boy ran from the area to seek help from a member of his family.
Police said they commended the quick thinking of the boy for immediately running to a family member.

Adult and four kids – including 10 year olds – trash Katherine business
December 13, 12.30pm:An adult and four children – the youngest two aged just 10 – have been charged with aggravated burglary after allegedly raiding a Katherine business overnight.
In a statement issued on Friday morning, NT Police said it received reports about 11pm Thursday a group of five males had allegedly unlawfully entered and business near Katherine Tce.
Police say the group caused significant property damage before stealing multiple store items and fleeing the scene on foot.
General duties officers arrested a 23-year-old man a short while later.
Strike Force Cerberus conducted further investigations resulting in the identification of two 13-year-old and two 10-year-old youths, who were arrested and dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.
Senior Sergeant Stephen Jones said Katherine police recognised the “serious impact” property crime was having on the community.
“[We] will continue to work tirelessly to investigate incidents, identify offenders and bring them before the courts,” she said.

Boiling liquid allegedly thrown at police officers, offender at large
December 11, 4pm: Police officers were allegedly doused in boiling liquid while trying to make an arrest at a remote community in the Victoria Daly Region on Monday, with the alleged offender still at large.
Around 3.30pm on Monday, local police attended a residence in the Victoria Daly Region to execute a warrant for domestic violence-related offending.
Police allege a 42-year-old man threw a large cup of boiling liquid at the officers before fleeing into a nearby river.
The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a local clinic.
The alleged offender remains outstanding.
Commander Kylie Anderson slammed the alleged attack.
“This is yet another disgusting assault on our frontline members as they go about their duty protecting Territorians,” she said.
“Luckily, it does not appear as though they have suffered permanent injuries.”
Man in stable condition following Howard Springs crash
December 11, 6.30am: A 20 year-old man is in a stable condition after sustaining significant injuries following a single vehicle crash in Howard Springs overnight.
About 11.30pm on Tuesday, police received reports that a vehicle had crashed on Whitewood Road after the driver lost control of the car and rolled down an embankment.
The 20 year-old driver sustained significant injuries due to his arm being trapped between the vehicle and the ground.
The man was then rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital by paramedics where he remains in a stable condition.
A police spokesman urged drivers to be careful behind the wheel.
“This is timely reminder to stay safe on the roads this Wet season.”
Police hunt man in relation to alleged sexual assault
December 10, 11.13am: NT Police are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a room and sexually assaulted a woman in the remote community of Lajamanu.
The alleged assault took place at a residence about 8am on Monday.
NT Police said the victim went to the local clinic after the alleged assault, prompting a police investigation.
Police formed a crime scene and seized a number of items for forensic analysis.
Northern Investigations Section detectives said an 18-year-old man, who is allegedly known to the victim, has been identified as a person of interest.
Police urge people in Lajamanu to report any suspicious behaviour, and anyone with relevant information is urged to make contact on 131 444 or to visit your local station.
