Humpty Doo mum Michelle Blomley not told about police siege, arrest of men at her home

A Humpty Doo mum says she only found out two fugitives were holed up in her home while it was surrounded by heavily armed tactical police via online gossip.

Humpty Doo mum kept in the dark over an active siege at her home

A Humpty Doo mum who was interstate supporting her critically ill father while police laid siege to her family home has called out the cops for leaving her in the dark.

An NT Police spokesman said on Thursday a three-hour siege of a Woodlands Rd home the previous evening had resulted in the arrest of two men.

The quiet rural suburban street was blocked off from 3.30pm to 6.30pm as property crime detectives from Strike Force Trident partnered with police negotiators and the Territory Response Group to lay siege to the house.

But the mother whose family home was the subject of the prolonged siege called out the lack of communication from NT Police, saying she only found out “from family, friends and the media”.

Michelle Blomley said she was 4000km away in Sydney caring for her father when she discovered her home was an active crime scene via community gossip.

In a video posted to Facebook on Wednesday, Ms Blomley appeared visibly stressed as she asked for “the goss” about the unfolding Woodlands Rd incident.

“When you’ve been in Sydney the past week and you find out there’s a hostage situation at your house,” she wrote.

Ms Blomley said she was initially only receiving information second-hand from friends and family before later being contacted by police.

“After it was dealt with, police rang informing us what was conducted, who, what, when, where and why, warrant etc,” she said.

“(We were) unaware a police operation like so was being conducted on our family property and ourselves finding out from family, friends and the media.”

Ms Blomley also wrote it was an incredibly stressful time for her family, as her husband’s grandfather had recently passed away and they were now facing the prospect of losing her own father.

She said she was at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to support her dad who was undergoing major surgery and was given just a 40 per cent change of survival.

There is no alleged connection between the 34-year-old and 24-year-old and the Blomley family.

The NT Police spokesman declined to comment about the lack of communication but said officers had received a tip-off that a 34-year-old arrest target was hiding out in the Humpty Doo home.

He said the 34-year-old was arrested along with a 24-year-old man without incident after the three-hour stand-off.

The 34-year-old man is now expected to face the Darwin Local Court on Friday charged with violence, property and historical firearm offences.

The 24-year-old has been charged with recklessly endangering serious harm, burglary and property damage and will face the court on Thursday afternoon.
