Police make two arrests after Humpty Doo raid

NT Police have made two arrests following a siege in the middle of a remote residential suburb on Wednesday night.

NT Police have arrested two men on multiple violence charges following a raid in the middle of a residential suburb on Wednesday.

Police said they received a tip off that a 34-year-old arrest target was at a home on Woodlands Rd in Humpty Doo.

Officers then closed the road about 3.30pm on Wednesday, with traffic diversions in place as drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Strike Force Trident, members of the Territory Response Group and police negotiators were sent to the location to make the arrest.

The 34-year-old, alongside another arrest target, aged 24, were arrested without incident about 6.30pm and are now in police custody assisting with their inquiries.

The 34-year-old man is expected to be charged with violence, property and historic firearm offences.

Police have since cleared the scene and reopened the road.

Residential road closed off in major police operation

NT Police have closed off a road in a Top End residential suburb as part of an ongoing police operation.

The Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services said the operation was underway in Humpty Doo just after 4.30pm Wednesday.

Police said traffic diversions would remain in place for Woodlands Rd until further notice as they urged motorists to avoid the area.

Woodlands Rd is located in the middle of Humpty Doo near the Arnhem Hwy and the Darwin Wildlife Sanctuary.

It is about 55km and a 38 minute drive away from the centre of Darwin.

Police were not able to provide any further information about the incident.
