Darwin police seek teenager who assaulted 11-year-old

Police are looking for a teenager who assaulted an 11-year-old in a suburban Darwin park on Australia Day.

Northern Territory police are looking for a young Aboriginal male after he assaulted an 11-year-old boy in a Darwin Park on Sunday.

Police said witnesses were being sought to the assault that occurred at William Forest Park in Muirhead about 3.05pm.

They said the victim had been walking along Asche Street when he was allegedly followed by the offender, who was riding a black two-wheel push scooter.

The victim was assaulted as he entered William Forest Park, and fell to the ground.

The offender allegedly continued to assault him while he was laying on the ground, before he was able to call out to his brother and break away from the assault.

The offender, who fled the scene, is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, aged between 16-18 years old, about 5’10” (177cm) with a skinny build, puffy hair and wearing a long white and black shirt.

Detectives are calling for anybody who may have witnessed the incident or have CCTV or dash camera footage of the location between 2pm-3.30pm to contact 131444 and quote reference number NTP2500009737.
