Two boys’ attempts to flee police after separate alleged incidents came to similar ends despite their vastly different methods.

In the first incident, police allege a 14-year-old boy’s getaway vehicle of choice – an e-scooter – came to an abrupt end when he inadvertently ran into waiting officers.

NT Police said the boy had allegedly damaged the entrance to a business in Millner before he walked inside and caused further damage late Friday.

Police said the boy had actively avoided officers until he was spotted at the Casuarina bus exchange on Monday afternoon.

It was then he opted for an e-scooter in his next attempt to flee police but found himself trapped by waiting members of Strike Force Trident.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Humphries said the police cordon was put in place once the youth was sighted.

“The youth was sighted and a cordon was put in place,” he said.

“He has attempted to evade police on an e-scooter but rode directly into awaiting Trident members who arrested him without incident.”

He was taken to Palmerston Watch House and charged with unlawfully entering building with intent, unlawfully damage property and serious breach of youth bail.

In an unrelated incident, police caught up with a 17-year-old alleged offender after he was allegedly caught loitering in a fire escape.

The youth allegedly entered a residence in Jingili, earlier on the same Friday, where he stole a number of items including car keys and credit cards.

He fled the scene in a Toyota Prado.

Using CCTV footage police were able to identify the teen after he allegedly used the stolen credit cards at a local service centre.

Police caught up with the youth when he was caught loitering in a fire escape at a nearby shopping centre in Casuarina.

The area was cordoned off and police were able to make the arrest without further incident.

“We received information that the youth was loitering in a fire escape at a local shopping centre in Casuarina,” Senior Sergeant Humphries said.

“Trident and Dog Ops members cordoned off the area which had three separate escape routes.

“The youth was subsequently arrested without incident and taken to Palmerston Watch House.”

He has since been charged with aggravated unlawful of motor vehicle and obtain benefit by deception.
