SIX people including a baby injured in a three-car pileup on a busy Darwin road which sent one vehicle hurtling towards a brick wall.

St John Ambulance NT Operations Manager Craig Garraway said paramedics were called to a “nasty” three car pileup on Bagot Rd, at 8.30pm Friday.

“One of the cars ended up hitting a brick wall,” Mr Garraway told ABC Darwin.

“Obviously a lot of damage.”

Mr Garraway said six people were taken to hospital, including a baby.

He said all patients suffered multiple injuries, including one person who was left with a fractured pelvis.

“Thankfully (the baby) wasn’t too injured,” Mr Garraway said.

He said police were investigating the crash

Mr Garraway said this was not the only crash paramedics were called to over the long weekend.

He said a rogue driver who sent their car flying off a bridge at Rapid Creek ran from the crash.

“We received reports of a car diving a bit erratically around that area,” Mr Garraway said.

“And as a result of that, the car has driven off that bridge into the water.”

“Not the right place to be driving a car.”

A 15-year-old was also injured a bike crash at Hidden Valley on Sunday.

Tourist rescued after becoming lost in Kakadu

MON AUG 1: A 73-year-old tourist has been rescued after becoming lost in Kakadu on Sunday.

At 1.20pm police were notified the Victorian man had not returned from a walk near Nawurlandja Lookout.

He was found around 1km off the track, over two cliff faces and in thick terrain.

Police assisted the man back onto the track, where he was taken to the Jabiru Health Centre by local clinic staff.

He had suffered from dehydration and exposure.

Senior Constable Mark Bond said it was a timely reminder for people making trips along bush walks.

“This was an excellent result and a timely reminder to plan your trip, always carry food and water, be prepared with suitable clothing and equipment and avoid walking alone,” Mr Bond said.

“If you get lost and disoriented, contact someone immediately and stay where you are so rescuers can get to you.”
