NT Police are calling for witnesses after a woman’s jaw was broken following an alleged physical assault by a man in Alice Springs.
The incident occurred about 7am on Saturday morning near the corner of Bloomfield and Musgrave streets.
The woman was airlifted to Darwin for surgery after suffering a broken jaw.
Police believe the man was known to the woman.

Young woman hit by car in Top End highway crash
A young woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in a high-speed highway zone.
NT Police said the 24-year-old pedestrian was hit on Friday evening, near the intersection of the outbound lanes of the Stuart Hwy and Virginia Rd.
Police warned motorists to be aware of traffic control measures around the serious crash.
The highway intersection is a 100km/h zone
The young woman was taken to hospital, her injuries were understood to be life threatening.
St Johns Ambulance said the woman was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.
A spokeswoman said it was believed that the 24-year-old suffered multiple fractures, although would need to be confirmed by a hospital X-ray.
