16-year-old boy dies in single vehicle crash in Herbert

A 16-year-old boy has been killed in a single-vehicle rollover on a rural Territory road.

The teenager was driving a Toyota Prado shortly before 10pm, Friday on Girraween Rd in Herbert at the time of the crash.

The 16-year-old boy, who was also the vehicle’s sole occupant, died at the scene.

St John paramedics and police created a crime scene at the location to allow Darwin Traffic Operations investigators to examine the site.

A section of Girraween Road remained closed throughout the night but has since reopened.

Police said they were appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the incident or any motorists with recorded dash-cam recorded from 9.30-10pm alongside Hutchinson and Girraween road.
