Latest, November 8: A double fatal hit and run scene police say was particularly distressing could have involved multiple vehicles, but no drivers have been identified yet.

Two women died following a hit and run on Trower Rd in Brinkin about 1.40am Thursday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Musgrave at a press conference on Friday said multiple people were assisting the Major Crash Investigations unit, but he could not reveal identifying information about the driver, in order to preserve the integrity of the case.

“We can’t rule out the possibility of more than one vehicle being involved, and any further information by the public to police would be appreciated,” he said.

“The role of the public in matters like this is very important and we rely on them for vital pieces of information.”

He said the isolation of the area made the case “complex” and multiple groups of people were known to visit the place.

He said the “Brinkin end” of Trower Rd was partially blocked off and traffic delays continued throughout the morning.

As at Thursday evening, it is understood police had located and seized the vehicle involved in the incident however the driver was outstanding, with no arrests made.
