QUEENIE Warhurst is the last person you would want to pick in a fight.

She has taken out the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world masters crown not once, but twice and in back-to-back attempts.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a form of martial art and combat sport.

The Darwin local competed in the titles in Las Vegas last month where she won the Masters 45 to 50-year-old category.

She said she was happy to have won this year and prove last year’s win was not beginners luck.

Warhurst’s impressive win came just four years into the discipline she swapped for competing and coaching judo.

And it was not just talent that got her over the line after Warhurst put in months of tough preparation work.

“I have three dedicated coaches and train six days a week, sometimes twice a day,” she said. “I do yoga every day and see a physio on Wednesdays.”

Warhurst said the final bout went down to the wire where she eventually won by two points.

“It was tough, I had four girls in my division and we all had to fight off,” she said. “I fought an American girl in the final. It went to full time and I only won by two.”

Although the competition was only a few weeks ago — September 25 — Warhurst said if her health was still in check she would be keen to head back and defend her world title.
