TARMON Elliott was in a remarkably relaxed mood when asked to summarise his side’s chances against SANFL club Glenelg in Saturday’s women’s clash at TIO Stadium.

The NTFL women and Glenelg clash is the first representative clash between the two sides and Elliott is confident all the preparation work will pay off.

All the players are in the middle of the Women’s Premier League season and are mentally and physically tuned for the game of their lives.

Rhiannon Busch will captain the Territory against a Glenelg side that narrowly missed the SANFL finals four months ago.

“There’s nothing new in our game plan, obviously we’re playing a bit higher quality opposition, but we’ve got the cream of the crop in Darwin and we should be able to mix it with our opponents pretty well,” Elliott said.

“We’re looking pretty solid across the whole ground, so we’re looking forward to seeing what our girls can do even if they come from different teams.”

Glenelg counterpart Jason Fairall said the historical nature of the 4.30pm clash made it super important for his side.

“We’ve never been away on a trip like this as a team or as a club and the significance of the match for the home side carries a little bit more weight for everyone,” Fairall said.

“We’re five weeks into our pre-season but we’ve been geared up for this game for a while and we’ve started to do a lot of match simulation.

“This is our first real hit-out and though we’ll be blowing some cobwebs out, I really think we’ll put on a good show on for the fans.”

Fairall pointed to his captain Ellie Kellock and versatile defender Chelsea Packer as key players in the Tigers’ line-up, while 15-year-old Piper Window has also made the trip.
