CONSISTENCY in shooting under the post was crucial to league leaders Tracy Village Falcons’ 47-28 win over Hoggies in Round 6 of the 2021 Darwin Netball Premier League.

The undefeated Falcons were quick to take the lead with shooters Mikaela Sawyer and Jordan Anderson finding their mark early.

Tracy Village Falcons coach Sharon Freeman: ‘We’re still finding our best combinations’ despite 4-0 start and win over Pints

Hoggies were quick to draw back some ground late in the opening quarter with Sophie Hatzismalis directing play from centre for her goal shooter Sarah Kiel.

But from the second quarter on, Tracy Village asserted their dominance with Lauren Pluker providing a steady anchor in centre court while Tyler Thornton provided a strong defensive game.

Falcons’ accuracy under the posts was the most decisive contributor to their win, with Sawyer and Anderson rewarding their side’s efforts with plenty of scores.

Falcons’ coach Sharon Freeman was pleased with the result though believed there was still plenty of improvement to come from her squad.

“It was another win for us but I wouldn’t call it our best game of the season with us still having a lot of work to do,” Freeman told the NT News.

“Our shooting was fantastic and some of connections were better while others weren’t so there’s still work to do on ball placement and connection on the court.

“We’re just working on different things each week, different line ups each week until we can find a set seven on court and being consistent.

“At the moment I just want to get more consistency from the whole team particularly when it comes to passing which let us down at times.”
