WILL they or won’t the three Farrer brothers line up for Big Rivers Football League premier Katherine South in 2021?
That is the question being thrown around coach Mal Fox’s Crocodiles as they prepare to defend the senior crown they won six months ago.
Big leaping spearhead Will Farrer (back), smooth running midfielder Josiah Farrer (knee) and on-baller Jono Farrer only had minimal time together last season after Josiah required knee surgery early in the 2020 campaign.
But Will and Jono fired in the grand final win over the Katherine Camels, Will kicking five goals after a series of big marks and Jono starring in an on-ball role.
Souths coach Mal Fox hopes the Farrer brothers will be in red and white this season.
“They’re certainly keen to play some games, we’re hoping that number extends to more than that in a 14-round season that will run through until mid September,’’ Fox said.
Souths meet Ngukurr in a historic BRFL clash at the new Mataranka Oval on May 1.
The new venue is the result of a partnership between the Roper Gulf Regional Council and the AFLNT.
“We’re rapt to be playing at Mataranka and all credit to the Roper Gulf Council for making it happen,’’ Fox said.
“It’s another big plus in a season that promises a lot with the competition stronger and now a new playing venue.’’
Last season’s runner-up Katherine Camels under joint coaches Leo O’Connor and Tom Spence, Ngukurr and the returning Eastside will be big rivals in Souths’ aim for back-to-back flags.
