Darwin racing’s most prestigious day has arrived with the sun shining and the wind dying down — news which is sure to please punters dressed to impressed and posing for their race-day photos.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Rebecca Patrick said it would be a nice, still morning in the sun.
“Wind has dropped off for today so the windier conditions we’ve had over the weekend, we won’t see that today,” she said.
“It should be a pretty sunny day in Darwin.”
Ms Patrick said punters would also enjoy a cool sea breeze coming through in the early afternoon.
“We’re forecasting a top of 32C and in the early afternoon we’ll have a nice sea breeze,” she said.

“With the winds easing off, it means we have the earlier sea breezes which bring a little bit more humidity.
