NRL NT pathways manager Duncan MacGillivray was pleased with the effort shown by all players, hoping the women would build on what they had learned in Redcliffe.
“We’ve been really impressed with the effort shown by all players. It’s been on show the whole way through,” MacGillivray said.
“They competed just as well as anyone else with the only gap being on that tactical side of things.
“Playing at this level has helped these players realise what other players out there play like and has also shown what opportunities are out there for them.
“They’ve really impressed everyone including other sides and hopefully they maintain what they’ve learned here.”
Debbie Gimini was one of the standouts from the women’s outfit, showing plenty of power and with improvement could become a real game breaker for Raiders.
Ivana Schober also impressed alongside Calista Boyd who despite being a late call up to the side proved herself a real asset to the squad.
In the under-19s, Palmerston’s Ciara Aigea was one of the standouts with her strong carries and workrate.
Litchfield’s Kiyanah Toy showed plenty of leadership in the halves while Micaela Shaw worked hard and made plenty of metres around the edges.
“The coaches have done a great job and really added to the experience which has helped bring these girls together and bond,” MacGillivray said.
“And the NRL also outdid themselves with the event bringing a heavy focus on nutrition.
“Hopefully that alongside the opportunities they know come with a competition such as this and it will ignite a flame in these girls.
“We’ve been talking a possible academy program that we would like to explore on the back of this representative trip which would be in our best interest.”
