NRL SuperCoach: Reigning champion Sam Rohlf’s FIVE trade targets for Super Trade Week

I’LL be using the first ever Super Trade Week, not for bye coverage, but to refresh my squad for head-to-head finals.

SuperCoach Play of the Week: Round 15 - Roger Tuivasa-Sheck

I’LL be using the first ever Super Trade Week, not for bye coverage, but to refresh my squad as I now battle to stay in the top eight of a money league I took out last year. My overall season has been over for a long time, so I’m using this chance to upgrade a few weak areas within my team — presented by hipages.

1. Jai Arrow

I’ve been keen to bring back Arrow since I traded him out in round 10 for Andrew Fifita. I’m still happy with that trade considering the niggles that Jai had at the time but Arrow is a final 17 player and this gives me a perfect opportunity to bring him back in. With a season average of 66PPG, I’m sure once his Origin commitments are over after round 17 he will be owned by more than the current 24 per cent of coaches. If I’m reduced to just a H2H player now, I can afford to make Arrow the first player I have re-signed after trading them out earlier.

2. Tohu Harris

Harris was one of the bright shining stars of the first five weeks with a PPG average of 68 over those early rounds. With a current season average of 60PPG and now available to play in round 16, Harris also gives coverage for those who are still chasing a keyring. I’ll never forget the 129 point game Tohu produced in round 26 last season as a POD to get my side home for the $50K. Averaging over 20PPG better with Shaun Johnson in the team, let’s hope these two remain healthy for the rest of the season.

3. Gareth Widdop

Widdop has been brought in knowing full well he is unlikely to play round 16 due to a short turnaround from the Denver Test. With three and five round averages of just 43 and 48, his recent numbers don’t scream “buy me” but he is still sitting on a season average of 66PPG. Widdop has a nice draw over the remainder of the season with two games against the Tigers and matches against Parramatta, Canterbury and Newcastle. Widdop is my upgrade from Thurston and he will be joined in the halves by Nathan Cleary in round 18.

4. Tim Lafai

Widdop’s teammate Tim Lafai obviously has the same draw but has the added bonus of facing the Parramatta right edge that has been a complete shambles of late, for an extra game. Lafai is only sitting on a 48PPG average this season after scoring only five tries so far and his average has taken a dip since he seemingly put away one of his weapons, his offload. The centre position has been awful to deal with this year, so I’m happy to roll the dice on a pod with two per cent ownership that plays for one of the form teams of the completion.

5. Suliasi Vunivalu

Vunivalu is definitely not for overall players even though he plays in round 17. He only has a season average of 40PPG and it gets worse, he has a five round PPG average of only 33. I’ve almost talked myself out of him, but the fact is I only have $337,000 left after the first four trades. Playing second fiddle to his teammate Josh Addo-Carr this season, the X factor Vunivalu can offer a H2H team on his day got him my last spot over Kurt Mann.
