WHEN it rains, it pours.
SuperCoaches are faced with an embarrassment of riches in the cheapie department this week, with not one but two bargains on offer - Canterbury’s Kerrod Holland and North Queensland’s Javid Bowen.
Holland has retained his spot centre spot following a brilliant 81 on Monday night and is an absolute must-have.
He is set for a $69,800 rise, covers round 12, kicks goals, has averaged a massive 48 in base stats and possesses strong job security following the injury to Chase Stanley (hamstring), plus Will Hopoate’s Sunday religious absences in rounds 10, 11 and 12.
Bowen is set for a slightly larger rise than Holland ($74,000), but job security looms as an issue.
The man he replaced, Kane Linnett, is considered a good chance to prove his fitness and come into the side this week, despite not being named.
However, Bowen may yet earn a reprieve even if Linnett returns, with Lachlan Coote (ribs) in doubt.
Thankfully the Cowboys play early in the round on Friday night, so SuperCoaches can wait for final teams before deciding on trades.
In other SuperCoach news from the round seven NRL team announcements:
* South Sydney’s Cody Walker has made the most money of any player this year ($155,500), but now looms as a sell after being dropped to accommodate the return of Adam Reynolds (broken jaw);
* Tigers prop Aaron Woods (ankle) is out for 4-6 weeks and is therefore a sell, especially with Origin looming;
* Sam Burgess shifts from prop to lock for the Rabbitohs, where his minutes and work should improve;
* Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita, who has scored the 7th most points of any player this year, has been cleared of an arm injury. He copped a knock to the forearm he has previously broken, but is not in doubt;
* With Bodene Thompson (ribs) back for the Warriors, Simon Mannering returns to the middle, where he has averaged 75 this year compared to 49 on the edge;
* Roosters revelation Sio Siua Taukeiaho (knee) will miss 4-6 weeks.
SEA EAGLES VS EELS
Thursday 7.50pm at Brookvale Oval
Sea Eagles: 1 Brett Stewart, 2 Jorge Taufua, 3 Jamie Lyon, 4 Steve Matai, 5 Tom Trbojevic, 6 Dylan Walker, 7 Apisai Koroisau, 8 Darcy Lussick, 9 Matt Parcell, 10 Nate Myles, 11 Tom Symonds, 12 Martin Taupau, 13 Jake Trbojevic. Interchange: 14 Lewis Brown, 15 Brenton Lawrence, 16 Josh Starling, 17 Siosia Vave
Ins: None
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Jayden Hodges (ACL, Season), Daly Cherry-Evans (Ankle, Round 9), Tim Moltzen (Knee, Indefinite), Isaac John (Pectoral, Round 16), Jamie Buhrer (Broken thumb, Round 9)
Comment: No changes. Brenton Lawrence has peaked for now after playing just 21 minutes on the weekend (break even 36). With the bye in round 12, he is on the chopping block this week for Holland or Bowen, with the right duals. Apisai Koroisau has averaged 100 in the last two weeks and is set for a $50,900 rise. However, he is not an option at a whopping $358,100. Perhaps Koroisau’s biggest impact on SuperCoach will be how he affects Matt Parcell, if at all, when Daly Cherry-Evans returns. Parcell has made the second most money of any player ($152,600) - and is set for another $18,000 bump this week.
Eels: 1 Michael Gordon, 2 Semi Radradra, 3 Michael Jennings, 4 Brad Takairangi, 5 Clinton Gutherson, 6 Corey Norman, 7 Kieran Foran, 8 Junior Paulo, 9 Nathan Peats, 10 Daniel Alvaro, 11 Manu Ma’u, 12 Beau Scott, 13 Tepai Moeroa. Interchange: 14 Isaac De Gois, 15 Peni Terepo, 16 Danny Wicks, 17 Kenny Edwards
Ins: None
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Matt Woods (Hamstring, Round 9), Luke Kelly (ACL, Season), Bevan French (Elbow, Round 10), Anthony Watmough (Knee, Indefinite), Tim Mannah (Shoulder, Round 8), Ryan Morgan (Knee, Round 8)
Comment: No changes. Semi Radradra has a break even of 129 and is set to bottom out beautifully just prior to the byes. Don’t jump the gun on bye purchases Manu Ma’u, Nathan Peats and Junior Paulo. It’s far too early to bring in borderline keepers just for the byes.
ROUND 7 SUPERCOACH PODCAST
COWBOYS VS RABBITOHS
Friday 7.50pm at 1300 SMILES Stadium
Cowboys: 1 Lachlan Coote, 2 Kyle Feldt. 3 Justin O’Neill, 4 Javid Bowen, 5 Antonio Winterstein, 6 Michael Morgan, 7 Johnathan Thurston, 8 Matt Scott, 9 Jake Granville, 10 James Tamou, 11 Gavin Cooper, 12 Ethan Lowe, 13 Jason Taumalolo.Interchange:14 Rory Kostjasyn, 15 John Asiata, 16 Scott Bolton, 17 Ben Hannant, 18 Patrick Kaufusi
Ins: Patrick Kaufusi
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Ray Thompson (Broken leg, Round 10), Kane Linnett (Shoulder, Round 8)
Comment: No changes to the 17, with Patrick Kaufusi added as 18th man. SuperCoaches must keep an eye on Late Mail and final teams to assess the Bowen/Linnett/Coote situation. With Bowen set for such a huge rise and possessing possible round 12 coverage, buying both cheapies this week is a serious tactic. SuperCoaches can set themselves up for the rest of the season – and this the priority even if a gun needs to wait until next week.
Rabbitohs: 1 Greg Inglis, 2 Bryson Goodwin, 3 Kirisome Auva’a, 4 Hymel Hunt, 5 Aaron Gray, 6 Luke Keary, 7 Adam Reynolds, 8 Tom Burgess, 9 Cameron McInnes, 10 David Tyrrell, 11 Christopher Grevsmuhl, 12 Kyle Turner, 13 Sam Burgess. Interchange: 14 Paul Carter, 15 Jason Clark, 16 Nathan Brown, 17 George Burgess, 18 Damien Cook
Ins: David Tyrrell, Adam Reynolds (jaw)
Outs: Cody Walker (dropped)
Other unavailables: John Sutton (Pectoral, Round 18), Zane Musgrove (Wrist, Indefinite), Angus Crichton (Groin, Indefinite), Alex Johnston (Hamstring, Round 8)
Comment: Cheapie Cody Walker makes way for Adam Reynolds, who returns from a broken jaw. Walker is therefore a sell at a massive $155,500 profit. It’s also time to cash in Hymel Hunt (BE 65) and Paul Carter (BE 70), with both having made over $100,000. Coach Michael Maguire has reshuffled his forwards after they were embarrassed by Dylan Napa’s onslaught. Sam Burgess moves to lock (which should increase his minutes and work rate), with David Tyrrell coming into the side at starting prop and Damien Cook relegated out of the 17. George Burgess has been dropped to the bench, with brother Thomas to start.
TITANS VS DRAGONS
Saturday 3pm at Cbus Super Stadium
Titans: 1. William Zillman, 2. Anthony Don, 3. Josh Hoffman, 4. Nene Macdonald, 5. David Mead, 6. Cameron Cullen, 7. Ashley Taylor, 8.David Shillington, 9. Nathan Friend, 10. Ryan James, 11. Zeb Taia, 12. Chris McQueen, 13. Greg Bird Interchange: 14 Luke Douglas, 15 Leivaha Pulu, 16 Agnatius Paasi, 17 Daniel Mortimer, 18 Eddy Pettybourne
Ins: Eddy Pettybourne
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Oshae Tuiasau (MCL, Round 8), Matt Srama (Knee, Season), Tyrone Roberts (Knee, Round 8), David Hala (Elbow, Round 12), Kane Elgey (ACL, Season)
Comment: No changes, although Greg Bird faces the judiciary on Wednesday night. Ashley Taylor activated another round of price rises with a brilliant 96 on the weekend and is on track to become the cow of the year. Playmaker Cameron Cullen scored an exciting 51 on debut. However, SuperCoaches will have to wait, with Tyrone Roberts (knee) an outside chance this week and a near-certainty for next week. Still no Nathan Davis.
Dragons: 1. Josh Dugan, 2. Kalifa Faifai Loa, 3. Euan Aitken, 4. Timoteo Lafai, 5. Jason Nightingale, 6. Gareth Widdop, 7. Benji Marshall, 8. Leeson Ah Mau, 9. Mitch Rein, 10. Russell Packer, 11. Tyson Frizell, 12. Joel Thompson, 13. Jack de Belin. Interchange: 14. Mike Cooper, 15. Will Matthews, 16. Dunamis Lui, 17. Siliva Havili, 19. Josh McCrone
Ins: Kalifa Faifai Loa, Benji Marshall (hamstring), Siliva Havili
Outs: Peter Mata’utia, Jake Marketo
Other unavailables: Dylan Farrell (Back, Indefinite), Yaw Kiti Glymin (Hamstring, Indefinite), Ben Creagh (Knee, Indefinite), Kurt Mann (Ankle, Indefinite), Mose Masoe (ACL, Season)
Comment: Benji Marshall (hamstring) returns, with Josh McCrone pushing to 18th man. Kalifa Faifai Loa comes onto the wing, with Peter Mata’utia dropping out. Siliva Havili replaces Jake Marketo on the bench. Jack De Belin looms as the best bye period purchase at the Dragons, although his minutes continue to yo-yo. He is only a borderline keeper, so wait until closer to the byes. Ditto for Tyson Frizell and Mitch Rein.
BULLDOGS VS WARRIORS
Saturday 5.30pm at Westpac Stadium
Bulldogs: 1 Will Hopoate 2 Curtis Rona 3 Josh Morris 4 Kerrod Holland 5 Sam Perrett 6 Josh Reynolds 7 Moses Mbye 8 Aiden Tolman 9 Michael Lichaa 10 James Graham 11 Josh Jackson 12 Tony Williams 13 Greg Eastwood. Interchange: 14 Sam Kasiano 15 Tim Browne 16 David Klemmer 17 Adam Elliot 19 Lloyd Perrett
Ins: Lloyd Perrett
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Chase Stanley (Hamstring, Round 8), Brett Morris (Knee, Round 16)
Comment: Unchanged 17, with Lloyd Perrett added as 18th man. SuperCoach cheapie Kerrod Holland retains his spot and is as close to a sure thing as we get in SuperCoach. SuperCoaches face a delicate decision on Moses Mbye. He is set for a massive price drop (BE 128) and is no longer kicking goals, but offers round 12 coverage. Hmmmmmm. Aiden Tolman (corked shin) has been named despite picking up an injury on Monday. James Graham is the second most popular replacement for Aaron Woods behind Jesse Bromwich.
Warriors: 1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 2. Jonathan Wright 3. Blake Ayshford 4. Solomone Kata 5. David Fusitua 6. Tuimoala Lolohea 7. Shaun Johnson 8. Sam Lisone 9. Issac Luke 10. Ben Matulino 11. Bodene Thompson 12. Ryan Hoffman 13. Simon Mannering. Interchange: 14. Thomas Leuluai 15. Jacob Lillyman 16. Charlie Gubb 17. Konrad Hurrell 18. Ligi Sao
Ins: David Fusitua, Bodene Thompson (ribs), Ligi Sao (shoulder)
Outs: Jeff Robson, Albert Vete
Other unavailables: Ben Henry (Knee, Indefinite), Nathaniel Roache (Ankle, Indefinite), Manu Vatuvei (Hamstring, Indefinite)
Comment: The big news SuperCoach-wise is Simon Mannering’s switch to the middle following the return of Bodene Thompson (ribs). Mannering has averaged 75 this year at lock compared to 49 on the edge. Jeff Robson has been dropped, with Tuimoala Lolohea to play five-eighth and David Fusitua coming on to the wing. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck produced a fizzer last week just when 4,000 had jumped on. He now has a BE of 90 and is predicted to see an $11,700 price drop, according to SuperCoach Gold.
BRONCOS VS KNIGHTS
Saturday 7.30pm at Suncorp Stadium
Broncos: 1. Darius Boyd 2. Corey Oates 3. Jack Reed 4. James Roberts 5. Jordan Kahu 6. Anthony Milford 7. Ben Hunt 8. Josh McGuire 9. Andrew McCullough 10. Adam Blair 11. Alex Glenn 12. Matt Gillett 13. Corey Parker (c) Interchange: 14. Jarrod Wallace 15. Sam Thaiday 16. Joe Ofahengaue 17. Kodi Nikorima
Ins: None
Outs: None
Other unavailables: None
Comment: No changes. Anthony Milford has a huge break even of 139, but may well hit it against the Knights at home. Load up on Broncos for the VC or C. Avoid the temptation to sell Corey Oates for Holland or Bowen. Yes, he has a break even of 48, but he could go massive against the Knights and will cover round 12, pending Origin.
Knights: 1.Dane Gagai 2.Nathan Ross 3.Sione Mata’utia 4.Pat Mata’utia 5. Akuila Uate 6. Jarrod Mullen 7. Trent Hodkinson (c) 8. Sam Mataora 9. Tyler Randell 10.Jack Stockwell 11 Tariq Sims (c) 12.Korbin Sims 13.Jeremy Smith (c) 14. Will Pearsall 15. Daniel Saifiti 16.Jacob Saifiti 17.Pauli Pauli
Ins: Sione Mata’utia
Outs: Jaelen Feeney (dropped)
Other unavailables: David Bhana (Ankle, Round 10), Chanel Mata’utia (Knee, Round 8), James McManus (Concussion, Season), Kade Snowden (Various, Round 8), Danny Levi (Back, Round 8), Robbie Rochow (Broken arm, Round 13)
Comment: Sione Mata’utia returns for Jaelen Feeney at centre in the only change. Pat Mata’utia is the most sold player this week - and for good reason. He has peaked and two great cheapies are on offer in his position. Overall players may be tempted to hold for bye coverage. But both Holland and Bowen are set to play round 12, which leaves SuperCoaches with exactly the same numbers. Take the cash and run. Jacob Saifiti (BE 15) hasn’t quite peaked, but with Tariq Sims back in the side, he could start leaking cash soon. He is also a sell option for Holland or Bowen (via Ben Henry).
RAIDERS VS SHARKS
Sunday 2pm at GIO Stadium
Raiders: 1 Jack Wighton 2 Edrick Lee 3 Jarrod Croker 4 Joseph Leilua 5 Jordan Rapana 6 Blake Austin 7 Aidan Sezer 8 Shannon Boyd 9 Josh Hodgson 10 Frank Paul Nuuausala 11 Josh Papalii 12 Elliot Whitehead 13 Shaun Fensom. Interchange: 14 Kurt Baptiste 15 Luke Bateman 16 Paul Vaughan 17 Joseph Tapine
Ins: None
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Jeff Lima (Hand, Round 10), Sia Soliola (Broken arm, Round 11)
Comment: Another side with no changes. Josh Hodgson (hand) is expected to play, but Paul Vaughan (ankle) is in doubt. As with bye purchases from other clubs, it’s too early to move on borderline keepers such as Shaun Fensom. But Jarrod Croker falls into the keeper class, so snap him up whenever tickles your fancy.
Sharks: 1 Ben Barba 2 Sosaia Feki 3 Jack Bird 4 Ricky Leutele 5 Valentine Holmes 6 James Maloney 7 Chad Townsend 8 Andrew Fifita 9 Michael Ennis 10 Sam Tagataese 11 Jayson Bukuya 12 Wade Graham 13 Paul Gallen Interchange: 14 Gerard Beale 15 Chris Heighington 16 Matt Prior 17 Joseph Paulo
Ins: Jayson Bukuya (thumb)
Outs: Luke Lewis (concussion/suspension, round 8)
Other unavailables: Connor Tracey (ACL, Season)
Comment: Jayson Bukuya (thumb) returns from injury in place of Luke Lewis (concussion/suspension). Andrew Fifita (forearm) has been cleared and is a great replacement for Aaron Woods, particularly for head-to-head players. With a BE of 44 and poor bye coverage, Ben Barba is a sell.
TIGERS VS STORM
Sunday 4pm at Leichhardt Oval
Tigers: 1 James Tedesco 2 David Nofoaluma 3 Nathan Milone 4 Kevin Naiqama 5 Jordan Rankin 6 Mitchell Moses 7 Luke Brooks 8 Avagalu Seumanufagai 9 Robbie Farah 10 Tim Grant 11 Dene Halatau 12 Christopher Lawrence 13 Jesse Sue. Interchange: 14 Joshua Aloiai 15 Curtis Sironen 16 Kyle Lovett 17 Joel Edwards 18 Jack Buchanan 19 Michael Chee Kam
Ins: Joel Edwards, Jack Buchanan, Michael Chee Kam
Outs: Aaron Woods (ankle, round 11)
Other unavailables: Matt Ballin (ACL, Round 10), Justin Hunt (Back, Round 8), Tim Simona (Suspension, Round 9)
Comment: Ava Seumanufagai replaces Aaron Woods (ankle, round 11) at starting prop, with recruit Joel Edwards added to the bench for his Tigers debut. Jack Buchanan and Michael Chee Kam also join an extended side. James Tedesco is set for a $32,300 rise, so this is the week to get on if you don’t already own him. Jordan Rankin pumped out a massive 83 last week just when a fifth of his owners sold. He is now set for a $22,200 rise and may therefore be a hold for round 12.
Storm: 1.Cameron Munster 2 Young Tonumaipea 3 William Chambers 4 Ben Hampton 5 Marika Koroibete 6 Blake Green 7 Cooper Cronk 8 Jesse Bromwich 9 Cameron Smith 10 Jordan McLean 11 Kevin Proctor 12 Tohu Harris 13 Dale Finucane Interchange: 14 Kenneth Bromwich 15 Tim Glasby 16 Felise Kaufusi 17 Nelson Asofa-Solomona
Ins: None
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Billy Slater (Shoulder, Season), Curtis Scott (Broken leg, Round 11)
Comment: No changes. Jesse Bromwich is by far the most popular replacement for Aaron Woods. Expect Tohu Harris to stay in the forwards for the rest of the year - with Cheyse Blair and Jeremy Hawkins finally fit and playing Queensland Cup, and Ben Hampton producing some decent performances. Harris is therefore a sneaky purchase this week at a $31,100 discount on his starting price.
ROOSTERS VS PANTHERS
Monday 7pm at Allianz Stadium
Roosters: 1 Latrell Mitchell 2 Daniel Tupou 3 Brendan Elliot 4 Blake Ferguson 5 Shaun Kenny-Dowall 6 Jayden Nikorima 7 Jackson Hastings 8 Sam Moa 9 Jake Friend (c) 10 Dylan Napa 11 Mitchell Aubusson 12 Aidan Guerra 13 Isaac Liu. Interchange: 14 Kane Evans 15 Mitchell Frei 16 Eloni Vunakece 17 Abraham Papalii
Ins: Mitchell Frei
Outs: Sio Siua Taukeiaho (knee, round 12)
Other unavailables: Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (ACL, Round 9), Mitchell Pearce (Disciplinary, Round 9), Boyd Cordner (Pectoral, Round 8), Vincent Leuluai (Knee, Round 10), Dale Copley (Pectoral, Round 20), Ian Henderson (Broken leg, Indefinite)
Comment: Mitchell Frei joins the squad in place of Sio Siua Taukeiaho (knee, round 12). Latrell Mitchell (BE 17) is showing some very promising signs SuperCoach-wise and is a hold, despite the two cheapies on offer. Find someone else to sell.
Panthers: 1 Matt Moylan (c) 2 Josh Mansour 3 Waqa Blake 4 Peta Hiku 5 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 6 Te Maire Martin 7 Jamie Soward 8 Sam McKendry 9 Peter Wallace 10 Reagan Campbell-Gillard 11 Bryce Cartwright 12 Isaah Yeo 13 Trent Merrin. Interchange: 14 Leilani Latu 15 Jeremey Latimore 16 Suaia Matagi 17 James Fisher-Harris 19 Tyrone Peachey 20 Elijah Taylor
Ins: Tyrone Peachey, Elijah Taylor
Outs: None
Other unavailables: Dean Whare (Calf, Round 8), Viliame Kikau (Ankle, Indefinite), James Segeyaro (Broken arm, Round 8), Brendan Atwood (Arm, Indefinite)
Comment: Unchanged 17, with Tyrone Peachey and Elijah Taylor added to an extended bench. James Segeyaro (broken arm) remains sidelined. This is great news for owners of Te Marie Martin, who is set for another $32,000 price rise. Bryce Cartwright (projected rise $38,200) is ripe for the picking this week, particularly for those looking to sell Aaron Woods.
