Nathan Cleary and Mary Fowler reunite in Liverpool after second Ashes Test
Kangaroos champion Nathan Cleary had an extra special spectator during the second Ashes Test, as his girlfriend and Matildas star, Mary Fowler, watched from the Liverpool crowd.
Australian sporting sweethearts Nathan Cleary and Mary Fowler shared a moment of jubilation together after the Kangaroos win over England in Liverpool.
Moments after steering Australia to a 14-4 win, Cleary headed to the crowd where he found Fowler, his partner and Matilda’s star.
Fowler, recovering from an ACL, plays for Manchester City and made the journey across to Liverpool for the second Test.
The loved-up pair were spotted taking selfies.
Fowler was wearing an Australian beanie and green jumper over what appeared to be an Australian jersey.
It appeared as though Fowler was sitting with Nathan’s father and Panthers coach, Ivan.
Earlier in the tour, Cleary said Fowler would be attending the Liverpool game and then the third Test in Leeds.
“It’s been a few months now so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing her,” Cleary said.
“She has to work it around her rehab but she is trying to come to the last two games. She is starting to understand (rugby league) a little bit but she’s not (across) the rules.
“She sometimes asks me why I don’t kick a 40-20 every set. I kind of like that as well. She understands sport in general but she isn’t telling me how to play. It’s nice.
“When we first met, the only rugby league player she knew was Johnathan Thurston. I asked her if she knew of Sonny-Bill Williams but she didn’t know him. She was pretty naive to it all.”
