More than 200 of the best junior riders from across the country have raced to the Top End for the 2023 KTM Junior Motocross Championships.
The championships are a showcase of the best talent in Australian Junior Motocross with 220 competitors hitting the track vying for national glory.
The racing has been competed over a five day period with the last racing to take place on Saturday.
Race organiser and Acacia Hills club board member Stuart Kohlman said it was great to have junior motocross back in the Territory for the first time since 1987.
“It’s really started to heat up with some of the big races kicking off and everyone is really excited for some top quality racing,” Mr Kohlman said.
“It’s a massive thing for these juniors, it’s such a good and important event for them.
“And for us it’s really exciting too as this is the first time in 30 years that we’ve had the juniors in the Territory.”
The Acacia Hills track only had four months to prepare for the prestigious event after the championships pulled out of Alice Springs due to ongoing crime.
Mr Kohlman said it was brilliant to see how people had come together to ensure the track on his parent’s property was ready in time for the big event.
“It’s been amazing, the best thing about it is has been people coming together pulling pillar to post to get it working,” he said.
“We’ve only had four months to put all this together and sort of get it ready, but everyone’s done super well and it’s really good to see how it has come together.”
