NT Rugby selects 64 juniors for Southern States Championships

After months of preparation talented squads have been selected to represent the Northern Territory in next month’s representative tour to Canberra.

The gruelling trial and selection process began with a 90-strong training squad comprised of the best young talent from across the Territory coming together in April.

They’ve since been whittled down to 64 players who will be heading down south to compete in the Southern States Championships.

NT Rugby pathways manager Paul Healy said it was an exciting time to be involved in Territory rugby with so much young talent taking part.

“We’re really pleased with the squads this year and I’d like to thank all those who were involved in the selection process, it wasn’t an easy task,” Healy said.

“It’s an exciting time for NT Rugby fans to get behind our junior stars and we’ve got high hopes for all three sides in Canberra come July.”

The squads are comprised of players who embraced at club level throughout the Darwin Rugby Season which came to an end in late March.

The 64 youngsters will don the Junior Mozzies strip to tackle Australia’s best emerging players from across the country.
