NT Rugby has unveiled a cohort of 90 juniors across three squads set to take on the interstate championships later this year.
The announcement of the squads follows the end of the Darwin rugby season, in which many of the selected players showed off their talents.
The three training squads - under 16 boys, under 14 boys and under 16 girls – started training at Rugby Park on Monday and will train through to late May.
NT Rugby pathways manager Paul Healy said the squads would be refined to 23-player travelling groups over the training.
“It’s an exciting time for NT rugby and we’re really pleased with the squads we’ve pulled together,” Healy said.
“Being named in these sides is an achievement itself - we’ve been working towards these squads ever since last year’s Southern States and the efforts of all involved as players, selectors, managers and coaches are greatly appreciated.
“We will still be considering regional and interstate players yet to return from school commitments for selection.
“There will be a vetting process as we refine our squads from the initial training group down to travelling 23-player units.”
Another Junior Development Squad will also be completed later in the season with all the selected players to be considered for selection.
