GAME 1

It was an underwhelming opening game for the NT in their first outing at this year’s under-20s nationals.

Up against powerhouse Victoria, the Territory were beaten soundly in a 127 to 60 scoreline, with the home team never giving the NT a chance, holding onto the lead for the entire game.

It was the boys in blue who got on the scoreboard first after a from the jump ball resulted in two points and a foul, something that the NT would commit all too often throughout the contest.

Victoria showed their hand early, getting bodies back in defence and penetrating through the NT quickly down the middle, to throw the ball out to the open man on the three point line.

This tactic was copied and pasted for all four quarters with the side attempting an astonishing 34 from deep, hitting 12 in total.

Comparatively, the Territory looked eager to drive to the paint with single player efforts, looking for lay-ups and to draw the foul.

Jason Ramsay did just that with great effect, as did partner in crime Lachlan O’Brien.

Some rushed decision making on offence also proved costly for the NT outfit as they coughed up the ball an unwanted 29 times.

Down 64-33 at the half, it looked promising for the NT boys to mount a comeback of sorts.

However, that was not to be, as the Victorian train continued to steamroll through, putting on a further 63 points in the second, limiting the NT to a game high 19 in the third and a game low of eight in the fourth.

The NT will look to quickly regroup and get their plans in order as they take on Tasmania tomorrow morning at 9.30am.
