WANDERERS are not the only club hurting heading into Saturday night’s 2020-21 NTFL preliminary final against St Mary’s, after Saints youngster Braxton Ah Mat was hit with a four-game total suspension on Wednesday night.
The news comes after Muk Muks skipper Braedon McLean lost his appeal also for a three-match ban for intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact.

That was after the star half-back bumped St Mary’s opponent Shaun Edwards in a third-quarter incident during the qualifying final on February 27.
Ah Mat was charged with striking Waratah players Zach Westerberg and Dylan Collis in the second quarter of the elimination semi-final at TIO Stadium last Saturday, the Green Machine going on to win by 26 points.
Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the Match Review Panel that the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.
Ah Mat was offered a two-match penalty but opted to have the matter heard by the tribunal.
It was a view of the tribunal that the incident should be re-classified as intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact.
In summary, Ah Mat was found guilty of striking and the charge was increased to a three-match penalty.
From the same game, Waratah’s team manager Ryan Branford was also charged with misconduct at halftime.
Based on the evidence available, it was the view of the MRP that the incident should be classified as misconduct, resulting in a one-match penalty.
The tribunal found Branford not guilty of misconduct and the case was dismissed.
