Incredible scenes as 46-year local footy premiership drought broken

Victoria’s elite community football competition is back for another season and its best are set to be showcased live.

For the third-straight year the Victoria Amateur Football Association and KommunityTV have partnered to broadcast an exclusive double header each round from the VAFA Premier competitions.

Weekly coverage will include a mix of Premier Men’s and Premier Women’s games throughout the 2025 season live and exclusive across News Corp Australia’s digital mastheads including the Herald Sun.

It shapes as another exciting year in both competitions with all clubs looking to knock Old Scotch off their perch.

The Cardinals claimed the men’s and women’s premierships last season to lay claim to being the VAFA’s most dominant club.

In the men’s competition, Old Brighton will be looking to go one step better after going down in last season’s decider and the likes of St Kevin’s and Old Xaverians shouldn’t be too far away.

SKOB will also be looking to bounce back in the women’s grade along with Kew, who have been right in the mix throughout recent campaigns.

The top grades will welcome new sides in season 2025 with De La Salle and Old Haileybury both promoted in the men’s competition.

Three new teams have made the step up from Premier B in the women’s competition including premiers Old Geelong, Williamstown CYMS and Fitzroy.

“The VAFA is once again delighted to partner with KommunityTV in showcasing our William Buck Premier Men’s and Women’s matches for season 2025,” a VAFA spokesperson said.

“Their industry leading broadcast perfectly captures both the action and essence of our elite premier competition, and simultaneously provides wonderful brand exposure and access to our VAFA Community and wider public audience.”
