The future stars of AFL and AFLW will once again be on show in 2025 with KommunityTV set to bring weekly Coates Talent League games to a screen near you.
Thanks to the continuation of a partnership between the AFL and News Corp Australia, boys and girls matches showcasing some of the country’s top draft prospects will be live streamed each round.
With the under-age competition a proven stepping stone for players hoping to make the big time, a number of rising talents will be aiming to show their best this season and become the next Sam Lalor or Ash Centra.
Coverage will feature one boys and one girls game live and exclusive on KommunityTV each round.
In what promises to be a competitive start to the season, the Gippsland Power and Murray Bushrangers boys will kick off proceedings on Sunday, March 30.
The round one match will serve as a rematch of the two sides’ wildcard round finals clash last season, where the Power ended the Bushrangers campaign in a seven-point thriller.
The girls will have to wait another week for their season to begin when Sandringham Dragons and Eastern Rangers face off in the first of a massive double-header on Sunday, April 6.
Both the girls (1pm) and boys (11.30am) matches from RSEA Park will be streamed live.
With the Talent League producing an array of the elite level’s best young players, AFL Head of Talent Nicky Couston said the competition continued to be a key pillar of the pathways system.
“We are thrilled to continue our streaming partnership with News Corp Australia to showcase one game from each of the Coates Talent League Boys and Girls competitions every round of the 2025 season, via KommunityTV,” Couston said.
“The Coates Talent League is an important part of the Australian football pathway system and, with the support of the community clubs involved, has produced more AFL and AFLW players than any other league. It is also an important development program for emerging coaches, umpires, administrators and support staff.
“On behalf of the Coates Talent League programs and everyone involved, we thank News Corp for their continued support and for helping to take the competition to broader audiences.”
The exclusive live stream coverage will also include three of the AFL’s interstate academy sides in the Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns and Sydney Swans.
Tasmania will also feature despite their reduced schedule in 2025 with the Devils boys and girls’ side matches available on Sunday, June 22 and Sunday, July 27.
The Coates Talent League coverage will feature a mix of boys and girls double-headers as well as stand-alone fixtures across the season before culminating in the finals series. KommunityTV will broadcast a non-exclusive match of the round from each week of the finals series before the grand final weekend.
