NTFL 2023-24: Watch Tiwi Bombers vs Wanderers Round 9 live stream

The Tiwi Bombers have showed plenty of ticker dismantling Wanderers in their first game at their home ground this season. Full REPLAY.

Replay: Tiwi Bombers v Wanderers - NTFL Round 9

The Tiwi Bombers have shown how dangerous they can be on their home deck, dominating Wanderers in their first match back at Wurrumiyanga Oval.

The Bombers’ previous two matches at home had to be moved because of unsafe ground conditions, but against the Muk Muks they finally had their chance to flex their muscles, winning 19.20 (134) to 9.6 (60).

Wanderers were actually the first side to score, using some of their speedsters such as Dray Thompson to threaten before Braedon McLean got the match opener.

But it was their last moment of celebration as Tiwi’s turned it up a gear, kicking the next seven goals, including two each for Henry Kerinuaia, Stanley Tipiloura and Roy Kantilla.

Michael Thompson, Kantilla and Thaddeus Puautjimi took control of the game through the middle of the park, silky handballs making it near impossible for Wanderers to generate forward pressure.

The Bombers dominated on and off the ball through the remainder of the contest, very effective in their tracking and movement across the park, smothering Wanderers in their tracks.

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti also showed off the silky skills he became famous for with a couple of thrilling goals to keep the scoreboard ticking on his return to playing on the island.

The Muk Muk’s fought their way back, three goals in quick succession before the final term, looking as if a comeback was on the cards.

However, Tiwi’s defensive pressure and ability to counter nullified the Wanderers efforts, though they had their moments with Thompson and McLean getting multiple majors.

“It’s bloody hot, I’m still getting used to it and I think it caught up to me in the third quarter there. I was overheating so I needed to relax for a bit,” McDonald-Tipungwuti said.

“In the fourth I ended up moving to the top and bagged two so I’m pretty happy with that from a personal level.

“It’s good to be back home now and playing against and with our mob, and it was also great to see such a turnout.

“Thaddeus Puautjimi was great, he’s coming along really well, Michael Thompson and our ruckmen also.

“We put together a good game of footy with some Tiwi footy thrown in.”

PREVIEW

For the first time in the 2023-24 NTFL season, the Tiwi Bombers will play on their home ground of Wurrumiyanga Oval on Saturday as the Wanderers make the trip.

And the NT News and KommunityTV will be there to stream every moment from 1.45pm on Saturday.

This was supposed to be their third fixture at home, but ground issues and insufficient rainfall prevented previous matches against Waratah and St Mary’s from heading to the island.

But now getting to play at home, the Bombers will be aiming to dazzle in front of their footy-mad home supporters.

Tiwi only have one win this season, but they are an improved side from the past few seasons, with the likes of Kim Kantilla and Brendan Kantilla impressing each week.

Wanderers and the Tiwi Bombers will face off in Round 9.
Wanderers and the Tiwi Bombers will face off in Round 9.

It’s the same record held by Wanderers, who have found themselves among the strugglers in the early stages of the year.

However, there are some positives for the Muk Muks, too, including the form of Jaxon East and Matthew Young, as well as their narrow loss to PINT in their previous match.

A full replay of the match will be posted here following the end of the game.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to live stream both the men’s and women’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
