NTFL 2023-24: Watch Tiwi Bombers vs Nightcliff Tigers Round 14 live stream

League leaders Nightcliff put on a clinical showing against the flashy Tiwi Bombers to celebrate a huge milestone for one of their club greats. Watch the full match REPLAY now.

Replay: Tiwi Bombers v Nightcliff - NTFL Round 14

The Nightcliff Tigers gave no sympathy towards the home-sick Tiwi Bombers in a 74-point victory at Gardens Oval.

The Tigers were too strong all around the park, running away to a 16.16 (112) to 5.8 (38) win for their club legends and 200-gamer Nathan Brown, while their opposition missed key opportunities.

Nightcliff navigated a marshy centre field and played their typical no-nonsense brand of football, handballing and short kicking Tiwi to bits.

The Tigers exploded out of the blocks with a five-goal first quarter as they headed to the first break up by 22 points and added another 10 points to their lead by the main break.

The Bombers showed glimpses of magic and tremendous heart, but couldn’t get their radar calibrated in front of the up rights.

Tigers’ Mitch Norton was a wall at the back while captain Ryan Nyhius and second-gamer Cameron Wild were their side’s best up front and in the middle.

Youngster Thaddeus Pauatjimi was heroic, doing what he could for Tiwi, while Sam Darley and Stanley Tipiloura made an impact when given the opportunity.

Man of the moment and one of the most relieved men on the night, 200-gamer Brown was absolutely stoked to get such an emphatic win away from home, regardless of the conditions and occasion.

“When there’s a bit of rain this deck is pretty shocking really, but the boys dug really deep and did everything they possibly could to try and get me a goal which was good,” he said.

Following a shot that hit the post in third, a shank across the face and a point in the fourth, it was on his fourth attempt that the Nightcliff legend leathered the Sherrin down the middle of the uprights.

“Very fitting that I was able to cap it off right at the end after all those misses,” Brown said.

“But playing down the back for such a long time, I don’t even practise kicking goals anymore.”

Their third comfortable win in a row after the break, the Tigers well spend this weekend with their feet up after a well-deserved bye.

“We’re going to do a bit of fun stuff,” Brown said.

“Just relax because we’ve been pretty hard on the track for the last month, so we’ll take things a little bit easy, then rip right into it the following week.

“We always train really hard so we’ll probably give ourselves one night off for a bit of Xgolf with the boys and get ready for the last three games of the year.

“We need to win every game to finish top, so that’s our target.”

PREVIEW

The Tiwi Bombers’ exciting attacking style will put Nightcliff’s defensive skills to the test in what promises to be an exciting Round 14 encounter.

And the NT News and KommunityTV will be there to stream all the action from 5pm on Saturday.

Nightcliff leapfrogged St Mary’s last round to take over top spot, but they know with the league so close they have to keep the wins coming to maintain their position.

They have plenty of momentum as well, after facing strugglers Wanderers and Palmerston straight out of the mid-season break to shake off any rust before the business end of the competition.

Lachlan Tardrew was a standout in those matches while Zach Moody and Brodie Filo were also impressive.

But up against an exciting and youthful Tiwi, it’s their defence that is sure to be put to the test.

The Bombers had their winning run snapped last week by Waratah, but they should still be full of confidence.

With Thaddeus Puauatjimi and Kim Kantilla in fine form, they should be hitting the scoreboard more than Nightcliff’s recent opponents.

A full replay of the match will be posted here following the end of the game.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to live stream both the men’s and women’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
